(Interamerican Institute for Democracy) The global crisis unleashed by the Coronavirus pandemic is used to benefit transnational organized crime by the dictatorships from Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. Before the pandemic; the Cuban regime plunged into misery, tried to conceal its “new special period” under the threat of social upheaval, the usurpation in Venezuela agonized with its main Mafiosi wanted with rich bounties, and Nicaragua’s dictator attempted to avoid a terminal civil resistance movement from developing. Now, they take advantage of the pandemic to strengthen their de-facto regimes, conspire to topple democracies, and profit from international aid, the human trafficking of enslaved physicians and the increase of narcotics’ trafficking.
In the second semester of 2019, “Castrochavism” implemented a massive and intense process to destabilize democracies in the Americas, promoting and executing a failed coup d’ état against President Moreno in Ecuador, wrecking -with violence- the stability and economy of Chile, activating the FARC and executing an extensive destabilization plan of President Duque’s government in Colombia, launching a sustained conspiracy against President Bolsonaro in Brazil, and more.
The “Castrochavism’ s offensive to destabilize democratic systems and governments” that we had highlighted, was put together by the “Forum of Sao Paolo”, admitted by dictator Nicolas Maduro and his accomplice Diosdado Cabello, was called “Bolivarian Breeze”, conducted by Cuba and Venezuela’s embassies and members of the FARC in assaulted countries. It was contained but not defeated, and lost the dictator Evo Morales from Bolivia, who is now a fugitive under Cuba, Mexico, and Argentina’s protection.
The response to the pandemic is also characterized by each governments’ nature, given that democracies -with successes and failures- responded within the framework of; respecting human rights, the rule of law, freedom of the press, the obligation of accountability and transparency, while dictatorships did so using their system of oppression, repression, and the commission of more crime to meet their one and only objective which is to keep themselves indefinitely in power with impunity. Democracies activated emergency plans and containment measures to protect their peoples, while dictatorships implemented a strategy to keep themselves in power, increase transnational conspiracy, and obtain the greatest economic benefit from taking advantage of the crisis.
The use of the Coronavirus crisis to sustain themselves in power, has been publicly conveyed and executed by Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua’s dictatorships who have dismissed any action in favor of restoring democracy, have continued to take political prisoners and trafficked with them. International actions against dictatorships have remained practically paralyzed, initiatives stalled, the Group of Lima is inactive on the topic of Venezuela, the TIAR agreement has been relegated to a mere statement and the dictatorships ask for “sanctions and pressure be ceased” using the Coronavirus as the alibi.
To sustain themselves with the excuse of the Coronavirus, dictatorships have not hesitated to use more force and internal repression, and to promote massive gatherings, marches, and massive contact which is not recommended. They have increased; control and censorship of the press, violation of freedom of speech, and obviously distort and manipulate data on the number of COVID-19 positives, sick or deceased. The helplessness of the citizenry is extreme due to the poverty, hunger and the inexistence of adequate health services in these countries, while the operations of de-facto and judicialized system of intimidation have grown along with the dictatorial propaganda that is in full swing.
Using the conflict the pandemic brings with it, Castrochavism’ s dictatorships have reactivated conspiracies with emphasis on Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, and Brazil, openly pursuing the fall of governments and attacking the legitimacy of presidents who enacted local policies that in countries with a high rate of “informality” are generating more poverty and dissatisfaction.
On the economic front, they seek greater international aid, but with dictatorial discretionary administration to use it as a tool for oppression and subjugation. Cuba has reactivated its “trafficking in persons” system, condemned by the United Nations as “slavery exploitation” and with the complicity of international health organizations is selling slaves to several countries amongst which Argentina stands out. The increase in narcotics’ trafficking as part of the dictatorial strategy, does not go unnoticed.
